Recruitment of Veterans [2.2.2.c.1a]
There are many resources available for the employer who is looking to hire a veteran. Three comprehensive resources are:
- American’s Heroes at Work Web site, this resource provides comprehensive employer information on hiring veterans. Included are recruitment resources to actively find and attract veterans and military spouses to civilian jobs; assistance in placing veterans into volunteer positions and internships is also available.
- The “Key to Career Success” campaign is sponsored by the Department of Labor through the Career One-Stop Pathways to Career Success Web site. The campaign connects veterans with high quality career planning, training, and job search resources. For employers, there is a Military to Civilian Occupation Translator to find which military occupations are the closest matches to civilian jobs and links that can assist in verifying the skills and experiences of job applicants who have a military background. Employment and training services are provided to veterans of the United States Armed Forces through a nationwide network of approximately 3,000 One-Stop Career Centers. Employer resources are available. To access information on the Centers in your state, visit America’s Service Locator Web site or call: 1-877-US-2JOBS or 1-877-872-5627.
- VetSuccess.gov is a website sponsored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. It provides the opportunity for Veterans to post their resumes and for employers to post job openings; also provided are links to Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) national employment resources for employers.
