Identifying Training Goal and Objectives

The goal of the training program drives content AND the way it is presented. Everything about a document or training program flows from its goal. Until you have a goal—a desired outcome—you may have hunks of content, but no way to choose the best way of presenting them. 
 
Specific training objectives (also called learning objectives) flow from the goal, but are much more specific. For training, the key question is: “what do you want trainees to be able to do at the end of the program?”
