Employee self-evaluation and feedback
Employees are a great resource in identifying their own training needs. Documents such as employee self-evaluations may provide clues on challenges shared by many staff performing the same responsibilities. Evaluations that ask employees to identify their next steps in the career ladder or training opportunities they would value provide a further source of specific data that can be used to identify group needs that can be met efficiently. Employees can also be given opportunities to reflect on evaluation findings, supervisor observations, or client feedback that suggest training needs; often, employee ideas are invaluable in enabling organizations to interpret data accurately and to pinpoint areas in which training may be helpful.
