Accommodations: Deafness/Hard of Hearing [2.2.2.I.a.ii]

Deafness is typically understood to mean that an individual does not perceive sounds at all, or hears only certain loud sounds. Some individuals may identify as culturally deaf and use sign language, even though they have some hearing in one or both ears. Individuals who are deaf/hard of hearing or have impaired hearing may or may not use assistive technology, such as hearing aids or cochlear implants. Information on accommodating employees with deafness/hard of hearing is available on the JAN website.
